Britain's Darkest Taboos tells the stories of some of the most shocking and disturbing crimes within families and relationships. Alissa Moore was subjected to years of horrific sexual abuse at the hands of her father James O'Brien. The abuse started at the age of seven and continued throughout her childhood as she was raped and assaulted by the man she was supposed to trust. In July 2015, O'Brien was jailed for 24 years. Alissa's mother Joan O'Brien was also jailed for six years after being found guilty of two counts of child cruelty. Alissa has waived her right to anonymity to talk about her lost childhood.
