Today I'm talking about a book that focuses on three black girls trying to deal with oppression in their communities. Woodson writes about an unnamed narrator who makes friends with a foster system kid named D. They learn about one another and bond over their love of Tupac Shakur. I like how Woodson writes about cultural heroes and the struggle even if the story doesn't feel fully fleshed out. Still, it is worth checking out!
