In this video I show you how I polish larger rocks without breaking the bank on expensive lapidary equipment. Face polishing is a technique where a portion of a rock is polished leaving the rest in the natural state. It can be used on any size rock. The equipment that I use in this video is a 4 1/2 inch variable speed grinder/polisher and a set of wet/dry diamong polishing pads. You can find these at your local hardware store or online. For safety always wear protective respiratory equipment and a ground fault circuit interrupter. Tips: : Keep the rock wet to prevent dust and the rock overheating. : Rotate the rock as you polish to keep the pads from producing microgrooves : A beveled edge adds to the look of the rock : TAKE YOUR TIME on the first step. This will help produce a better finish : Dry the rock between grits to check your progress and to look for areas that need more work L Take your time and have fun! If you have any questions or comments drop them in the comments and I will get back to you.
